Bacon & Vidalia Onion Hot Dog Grinders
Looking for a dish that will knock your socks off – but you can whip together in literally a matter of minutes with only a couple of ingredients? Well, look no further.
These Bacon & Vidalia Onion Hot Dog Grinders are your hall pass to an easy, affordable, & yummylicious dinner!
Yes, yummylicious. Â You should totally start using that word.
And you should totally make these hot dog grinders today.
Here’s what you need – and the cheese & green onions you see are totally optional! But, it’s really good to sprinkle a little on top 🙂
So, first you need to have freshly fried up bacon. Â You could use real bacon bits too if you’re short on time. Â Yes, I fried up a lot of bacon because I needed a snack during the whole 10 minutes it took me to get these on the table.
Or, I’m just obsessed with bacon.
Cut a large Vidalia onion in half, and then slice each half into thin slices. Â If you fried up bacon, reserve a couple tablespoons of the bacon grease and saute the onions in it. Â If you are using bacon bits, saute the Vidalia onions in a couple tablespoons of butter. Season your onions with salt & pepper.
Take about 6 of your favorite hot dogs (I like all beef!) and slice them into rounds once the onions have sauteed to a  nice color.
Throw in the sliced hot dogs.
Saute for a couple more minutes, to warm the hot dogs and slightly toast them.
When done, load your hot dog buns with the mixture.
Top with crumbled bacon.
Garnish with green onions and/or shredded Cheddar cheese if desired.
You can also forgo the hot dog buns all together and pile the mixture into individual serving bowls and have at it with a fork. Just as good!!
