Easy No Bake Holly Berry Clusters Christmas Cookies

As y’all know, I have quite the fascination with things like estate sales, yard sales, & antique festivals.. I love hunting for vintage kitchen items, especially cookbooks, handwritten recipes, & old recipe clippings. Every once in a while, I’ll come across a recipe box stock full of handwritten recipe cards from long ago and it makes my heart go pitter-patter. I often wonder how the family/friends can get rid of something like that but that’s just me. I know I hold tight to the handwritten recipes of my loved ones, they are some of my most special of treasures. Whenever I see handwritten recipes, I always ‘rescue’ them and bring them home with me to hopefully live on inside my kitchen.

Recently, I came across a cookbook that completely fascinated me at an estate sale. The elderly woman who lived there was downsizing and the sons were selling off the things she didn’t want any longer. She had a ton of books, mostly craft related, but a small section of cookbooks. So, I sat down on the floor (because they were on the bottom shelf and I have now passed the age where I can bend down to that level for more than 3 seconds – oh my back!) and proceeded to go through them. My heart got all happy when I found this one.

Ida Ramsey's Favorite Recipes cookbook

It was an entire handwritten cookbook y’all – 205 pages worth! Two of my favorite things combined into one – a cookbook plus handwritten recipes. I snagged that one in a heartbeat! It was the first thing I dug into when I got home, much like some folks would do with a best selling book they couldn’t wait to read. I was definitely that way with this book. (FYI – I post cookbooks that I find at estate sales & such for sale on my Etsy store, this one isn’t there yet.. but check them out if you like that sorta thing)

I can’t wait to cook so many of the recipes inside, but being that it’s Christmas cookie season (and the fact that I had everything on hand to make them!), my first recipe I made from it are these super easy No-Bake Holly Wreath Clusters.

You can’t really get any easier than this recipe. It’s much like a Rice Krispie treat but it uses cornflake cereal instead. You could use rice krispies instead of cornflakes, but the cornflakes definitely give the cookies a more ‘wreathy’ feel.

My kids honestly kinda snuffed their noses at these at first but after trying them, they were gobbled up within 2 days…. the entire batch! My 8 year old ate the last two and my 17 year old whined like a 4 year old when she came home from Wednesday night meals at church and saw they were gone, haha.

They are really easy to make… just melt the marshmallows & butter. Add the food coloring, then stir in the cornflakes. Drop them by the spoonful on wax paper & press 3 red hot cinnamon candies into the top of each one. Let them rest until they are cooled and set, and they are all done!
