Simple Hostess Gift ~GREAT DIY~

Simple Hostess Gift ~GREAT DIY~

Hi all, I’m Wendi and I blog over at H2OBungalow.  While I don’t personally know Crystal, I wanted to pitch in and contribute a post.  I have her entire family in my thoughts and prayers.

Today I thought I share this easy simple hostess gift project that any level of DIY’er can put together.  Where I fall way short on creative cooking, I make up for it in the creative DIY area.  Barbeques are one of my favorite summer activities.   There’s nothing better than quality time with friends and family spent over a good meal cooked outdoors. I like to bring a little something special besides my favorite dish when we’re heading out to for a BBQ feast.  Making a simple summer hostess gift is as easy as pulling together a few items in a color coordinated baking dish and it’s a thoughtful way of saying thank you for including us.

This is my favorite type of hostess gift to make.  Start with a plain set of wood spoons. Use painters tape to tape rings in different sizes around the handles.  Paint the rings in different colors and allow to dry.

Lightly sand the rings to even out paint lines and distress the spoon handles for a little character.  Use a sealer over the paint and allow to dry.

That’s it.  I like to tie my spoons together with a coordinating ribbon.

Tuck a little shredded gift paper and a coordinating dish towel into a colorful baking dish to finish off your beautiful simple summer hostess gift.

Be sure to include a note that the DIY wood painted spoons need to be hand washed only ☺

It would be easy to personalize this hostess gift by adding a few favorite spices or barbeque tools too.

Do you have any barbeque plans this summer?  Why not say thanks for the invite with a thoughtful  simple summer hostess gift like this one?   It’s easy to adapt for other seasons, too!

P.S. Hey friends! Christy from Southern Plate here. I’ve been putting some of these guest posts up for Crystal and I just HAD to chime in and say that this would make an EXCELLENT Christmas gift! I’m so excited about this idea! I can just imagine red and green stripes on those spoons and pretty holiday dish towels! How do you think you might use it? Chat with us in the comments!
