Gobble gobble.  Thanksgiving Day is almost here.  Pretty soon, you’ll be so full that it’ll be more like waddle waddle.

So here’s to messy kitchens, full bellies, and lots of leftovers.  And guests who can wash the dishes for you since you spent countless hours preparing the big feast!

Speaking of those countless hours – and no oven space at that…. I thought it was essential to share an easy turkey recipe that would lighten your load on Thanksgiving, as well as free up some oven space!

Crockpots are all the rage, and that’s no exception for Thanksgiving!  Slowcooking your bird is so super easy & produces such a moist flavorful entree, you may never go back to the oven method again.

Although if you are a stickler for the oven method, be sure to check out my Herb Roasted Turkey because it’s turkey perfection.

Contrary to popular belief, a large turkey breast can feed a crowd.  And most people prefer the breast meat over the other parts of the turkey.  Add all that with the ease of preparation of this recipe, and it’s a win win. I used a 7 pound bone-in turkey breast here &  had enough to feed 8-10 people. The slow cooker turkey drippings make a mean gravy too.

Here’s what you need:

Crockpot Turkey Breast

I removed the bones on the underside of my turkey breast, just so my turkey breast sat upright in my crockpot (I used a 6 quart crockpot) but it’s not really necessary.

Spread some olive oil over the turkey breast and then rub a mixture of Italian seasoning, garlic salt, & pepper over the top.  You really use any variety of seasonings that you have laying around.  Cajun seasoning is another one that I’ve done that’s really good!  Season to your fancy!

Pour enough chicken broth to cover the bottom of the slow cooker by about 1/4 inch.  Add a few cloves of minced garlic to the bottom of the crockpot too.

Cover, & cook on low for 6 hours.

Let the turkey breast rest for about 10 minutes before carving. The drippings in the bottom of the slow cooker make an amazing gravy too!
