Skillet Cinnamon Apples

Warm cinnamon apples are one of my favorite treats. Not only do they taste delicious, but they fill up the entire house with such a wonderful smell while they are cooking. The way your home smells for a couple hours after these have cooked is worth making them all on it’s own. I just love that scent so much.

Cinnamon Apples are quite easy to make, a lot easier than a lot of folks may think. I make them in the crockpot sometimes & I also make them in the skillet. Since I’ve already shared my method for the crockpot ones, I figured I’d share my stovetop method. Especially since I just made a large batch of ’em.

A bowl of these warm apples topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is one of the most perfect things you could ever eat. That’s actually my favorite way to eat them, They are also my favorite mix in idea for oatmeal. It totally jazzes up an otherwise boring bowl of oatmeal & transforms it instantly into a deliciously cravable breakfast. My kids are a huge fan of the apple cinnamon oatmeal (as is their mom!).

And cheesecake – oh y’all, it’s soooooo good on cheesecake. Pancakes too! It would probably actually even taste good on cardboard but I wouldn’t advise that one.

These are super quick to make too. As in, they are done in 15 minutes. They also only require 6 ingredients & one of those ingredients is water. Easy-peasy.

Skillet Cinnamon Apples

This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled – after trying it, you’ll want to make more next time. They reheat great!

Skillet Cinnamon Apples

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 large tart apples (I use Granny Smith) – peeled, cored, & sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add apples. Cook, stirring constantly, until apples are almost tender, about 6 to 7 minutes.
  2. Dissolve cornstarch in water; add to skillet. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve warm.
