More of a dessert salad, this dish goes by many names, including Snickers Salad, Candy Salad, Candy Apple Salad, and Caramel Apple Salad, but no matter what you call it, everyone loves it.

And it’s so easy to make! This recipe has a handful of easy-to-find ingredients, and it comes together in a pinch! Mix it up, serve it, and sit back for all the compliments!

What Is Snickers Salad?

There’s no lettuce in this salad, but there is a whole lot of flavor! Imagine the flavors of a chocolate and caramel candy apple, but in the kind of dish you eat with a fork! This Candy Salad features tart Granny Smith apples, nutty Snickers candy bars, caramel, and a sauce that’s creamy and refreshing. It might seem like an odd combination of ingredients, but trust me, it’s fabulous!

Ingredients

  • Instant vanilla pudding mix – You want the kind in a box. A 3.4-ounce box.
  • Milk – Whole milk is best for this recipe.
  • Cool Whip – Thawed in the fridge.
  • Granny Smith Apples – These tangy and bright green apples are perfect in this recipe.
  • Snickers candy bars – Full-sized bars.
  • Caramel sauce

What Are The Best Apples For Snickers Salad

Granny Smith apples, those bright green tart apples, are the best in this recipe. Other good picks include not-too-sweet apples with plenty of crunch. Gala, Braeburn, and Jonagold apples are also good choices, but they are a bit on the sweeter side.

How To Make The Best Snickers Apple Salad

  1. Whisk the vanilla pudding mix and milk in a large bowl until it is smooth and creamy.
  2. Stir half the caramel sauce, and then fold in the Cool Whip.
  3. Core and dice all but one of the apples. Set the remaining apple aside.
  4. Dice the Snickers Bar into ½-inch pieces.
  5. Fold the diced apples and Snickers. Mix well, then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  6. Top with remaining diced apple and Snickers, and drizzle with remaining caramel sauce before serving.

Tips

  • Make sure you’re using vanilla pudding powder. The kind that comes in a box. Ready-to-eat vanilla pudding won’t work in this recipe.
  • If your Cool Whip is frozen, pop the container in the fridge the night before, so it is perfectly thawed when you’re ready to use it.
  • Toss the diced apple with lemon juice or citrus soda if you’re making this Snickers Salad recipe ahead of time, so the apples don’t brown.
  • Save some Snickers and apple pieces for garnishing the top of the salad.
  • Double the recipe if you need enough for a crowd.

Variations

Feel free to experiment with this salad and see what other delicious combinations of ingredients you can come up with! Here are my suggestions:

  • Change up the apples, or swap the apples for bananas, strawberries, pears, or blueberries.
  • Use a different pudding flavor – there are no wrong answers here, try something new!
  • Try the salad with other candy bars – use all your favorites!
  • Swap the caramel sauce for chocolate sauce, butterscotch, or even strawberry syrup.

Serving Suggestions

Even though it’s called Snickers Apple Salad, this is pretty much a dessert recipe. I love serving it after a hearty casserole, a classic like Chicken Fried Steak, or tasty baked pork chops. This is also a yummy brunch salad – it’s not just for dinner!

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about a day. The apples will start to turn brown if you leave this salad for too long, so it’s best eaten fresh.
