Quick Marinated Hamburger Steaks with Onion Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 preformed burger patties (uncooked)
  • 1/2 cup Allegro original marinade
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 pats butter

For the onion & mushroom gravy

  • 1 large onion sliced
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup diced mushrooms
  • black pepper to taste
  • garlic powder (optional) to taste
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  • Combine the Allegro marinade, worcestershire sauce, olive oil, pepper, and garlic powder in a measuring cup. This will make 1 cup of marinade. Place the preformed burger patties into a casserole dish & pour the marinade over top. Marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Drain the marinade from the burgers. Heat a skillet on medium high heat & add the butter to it to melt. Cook the burgers on each side for a few minutes until they have reached the doneness that you desire, draining off additional marinade that accumulates in the pan as need be. Remove the burgers from the pan and set aside. Serve on a bun as a burger or continue on to make the gravy.

To make the gravy:

  • Add the onions to the pan and season with salt. Then, add the mushrooms. Season with pepper to taste. You can also season it with garlic powder to taste if you'd like. Cook, on medium high heat, until the onions and mushrooms have started to caramelize. If you need to add more fat, add another pat or two of butter.
  • Once the mushrooms and onions have cooked through, sprinkle in 1/3 cup of all purpose flour. This is going to thicken your gravy. Let it cook for about 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Add in the beef broth, one cup at a time. Cook while stirring until the gravy has thickened.
  • Add the hamburger patties back to the pan. Cover; and cook on medium low heat for 7-10 minutes. Serve.
