Christmas Tree Cake Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 16 tbsps melted butter divided
  • 8 oz package cream cheese softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 16 oz powdered sugar
  • 3-4 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes or vanilla snack cakes
  • green sprinkles for decorating
  • red writing icing for decorating

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. 
  • Combine the cake mix, egg, and 8 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9 inch baking pan. Press the chopped Christmas Tree Cakes into the batter gently. 
  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla and 8 tablespoons butter and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and chopped up snack cakes. 
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey. Sprinkle with some extra powdered sugar as garnish. Decorate with green sprinkles and red writing icing, if desired, to resemble a Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake. Slice into squares.
