Bacon & Vidalia Onion Hot Dog Grinders


  • 6 hot dogs I like all beef, sliced into rounds
  • 1 large Vidalia onion sliced
  • crumbled bacon or bacon bits
  • 2 tablespoons butter OR reserved bacon grease
  • hot dog buns
  • green onions to garnish optional
  • Cheddar cheese to garnish optional
  • salt & pepper to taste


  • Saute the sliced Vidalia onions in the reserved bacon grease or butter until golden brown - season with salt & pepper. Add in the sliced hot dogs & cook for a couple of extra minutes until they are warmed and slightly toasted. Pile the mixture into the hot dog buns, and top with crumbled bacon. Garnish with green onions and/or Cheddar cheese, if desired.
  • Also really good served as a skillet instead of inside of hot dog buns!
