Sadly it doesn’t work without the angel food cake mix – but I’m not sure of the science behind it. You can switch out the other cake mix with any flavor though to custom make different microwave cakes.

I use the Angel Food cake and what ever other I have on hand.
I also add about a tsp of cinnamon to the mix. just adds a little more to the taste.

After the cake was done I added a tablespoon of mini chocolate chips on top and let them melt.
