Better Than Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
This easy homemade pumpkin spice latte is creamy, warmly spiced, and made with real pumpkin puree and strong brewed coffee. It is ready in about 10 minutes - no espresso machine needed!
- 2 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- pinch of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- whipped cream
- extra cinnamon for garnish
In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, pumpkin puree, and 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Heat until smooth and steaming, but do not boil. Taste and add the remaining tablespoon of sugar if desired.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon.
Froth the mixture for about 15 seconds using a handheld milk frother, immersion blender, or electric mixer, until foamy. If using a countertop blender, carefully vent the lid while blending the hot liquid.
Pour the pumpkin milk into one large mug or divide it between two smaller mugs. Add the strong brewed coffee.
Top with whipped cream and an additional sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve immediately.
- Plain canned pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie filling are not the same; use plain pumpkin for this recipe.
- Two tablespoons of sugar makes a lightly sweet latte. Use 3 tablespoons for a sweeter coffee-shop-style drink.
- Two shots of espresso may be substituted for the strong brewed coffee.
