Christmas Trifle

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding made according to the package directions
  • 12 ounces of strawberries sliced
  • 1 pint blackberries
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • Red writing icing optional
  • Green sanding sugar or sprinkles optional
  • Edible glitter optional

Instructions

  • Chop the Christmas Tree cakes into small pieces, setting 2 or 3 uncut ones aside to decorate with later.
  • Wash and dry the berries, slicing the strawberries.
  • Make vanilla pudding according the the instructions on the box. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set it aside.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  • In a trifle bowl, spread 1/2 of the chopped cakes at the bottom. Top with half of the prepared vanilla pudding. Add half of the sliced strawberries on top of the pudding and top with half of the whipped cream/cream cheese mixture. Follow with the blackberries and raspberries. Then repeat the chopped cake layer, other half of the pudding, and the rest of the berries. Finally, spread the remainder of the whipped cream/cream cheese mixture over the top.
  • You can leave the trifle just as it is but I like to decorate mine with green sanding sugar and red writing icing, to mimic the top of a Christmas Tree Cake. I also add the remaining 3 whole Christmas Tree cakes to the very top and spray on a little bit of edible glitter.

Notes

You can layer this any way you like - this is just how I layer it!
