Candied Bacon

  • 1 Pound bacon
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 Tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 Tbsp crushed red pepper flakes

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Lay the uncooked bacon slices on the pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the bacon slices, fully coating all the slices. Using your hands, gently pat the sugar down onto the slices of bacon.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Carefully transfer the bacon from the baking sheet pan to a cooling rack and let cool for another 10 minutes.

If you want extra sweetness, add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to the mixture.
If you want extra kick, you can add more cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes. Adding 2 tablespoons of hot honey to the mix is really good too!
