Jalapeno Popper Mummies
These Jalapeno Popper Mummies are the perfect party treat for Halloween. They are delicious & super easy to make – and they really do look like a mummy!
These Jalapeno Popper Mummies are such a great Halloween themed food to serve as a snack or appetizer, to take to a party, or to serve as a meal or side dish.
Not only do they look cool, but they are super easy to make & yummy too.
All you need to make these is:
- refrigerated pizza dough, cut into strips
- fresh jalapeños, cut in half (leave the stem in – it looks cool!) with the seeds & membranes removed & discarded
- cream cheese
- shredded cheese of your choice (sometimes I use just cheddar & sometimes I use Monterey Jack or pepper jack)
- chili powder (completely optional – just adds an extra smokey heat!)
- candy eyes
In a bowl, combine equal parts of cream cheese & shredded cheese. In the video (at the bottom of this post) I use a combination of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, but you can use any kind of shredded cheese that you like. I love the way that cheddar melts so it’s my favorite to use. Sometimes I use just cheddar and sometimes I combine it with the Monterey Jack or pepper jack. The Mexican blend cheese work really well in jalapeno poppers too,
Stuff the hollowed out fresh jalapeno halves with the cheese mixture.
Wrap the refrigerated pizza dough strips around the jalapeños, all mummy style – making sure to leave an empty space uncovered for the eyes.
Bake them up until the pizza dough strips have browned & the cheese is hot and bubbly, about 12-15 minutes on 375 degrees.
Remove them from the oven & let them cool slightly before topping them with the candy eyes. You don’t want them to melt!
Once they have cooled about 10-15 minutes, top with the candy eyes.
How easy was that? And, don’t they look really cool?
You can also use my favorite jalapeno popper recipe for these for the filling, and just not wrap them with the bacon & barbecue sauce. You can find that recipe here.Â
