3 Ingredient Lotion Bars
Many of the homemade bath & body recipes out there call for a whole slew of ingredients & supplies – not to mention the mess some of them can make! I love making my own soaps, lotions, & such but simplicity is definitely key.
That’s why I love these super simple lotion bars so much. 3 ingredients is all you need to make up a batch of them, and they last a really long time!
The recipe components are this:
- 1 cup coconut oilÂ
- 1 cup beeswaxÂ
- 1 cup shea butter (you can also use cocoa butter or mango butter, or a combination of all 3)
- Optional – you can also slice open a couple of Vitamin E capsules & empty in the contents if you like – or you can add in a few drops of your favorite essential oil. (I recommend lavender!)
Combine all the ingredients in a double boiler or a glass bowl over a smaller saucepan with about an inch of water in it. Bring the water to a boil & whisk the ingredients together until they are all melted & combined. Remove from the heat. If you want, you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil(s) at this point. Pour into molds of your choice.
I love these silicone muffin liners for individual bars – but I have to say my favorites are empty deodorant containers. You can buy them online these days empty & brand new. I like to use the lotion bars in the deodorant containers in the shower on wet skin after bathing. It’s ah-mazing!!Â

Are you meant to use the lotion bars as you would a bar of soap (with water to wash) OR to just apply after washing?
You can use them either way – on either dry or wet skin.
So usefully!!!
Hmm sounds like a nice Christmas gift. Think I might try it.
