4 Super Easy Burger Recipes

4 Super Easy Burger Recipes

Labor Day is almost upon us, and soon many grills will be firing up across the country. Burgers seem to be at the top of the list of what people are planning on cooking out. Well, I don’t know about you – but I like burgers all year round, even when it’s a snow blizzard outside. I just love burgers. And, I love experimenting to make different flavors with them too.

I’m going to show you 3 burgers you can put together in no time, and with very minimal ingredients. In fact, all you need to to make the actual burger are just 2 ingredients. 1 pound of ground beef plus a can of well-drained diced tomatoes. Not just any kind – the flavor combinations are what we’re aiming for – so of course we need different flavors of diced tomatoes.  I’ve found over the years that flavored tomatoes are a quick & easy way to put some great flavors in your burgers.

So, here are the  burgers that I’m going to show you.

  • 1 & 2.  Spicy Burgers (you can also turn these into Spicy Ranch Burgers with just 1 added ingredient!)
  • 3.  Pizza Burgers
  • 4.  Cilantro Lime Burgers

Now, the secret for using diced tomatoes in a burger is to let the drain very well. You can put them into a colander inside of another bowl in the fridge to let them drain overnight – or you can do like I do because my burger cravings seem to come on without warning 😉 Just drain them through a colander, and then using your hands – scoop them up by handfuls and give them a quick squeeze. The last thing you want is too much liquid inside your burgers as that could very well make them fall apart on the grill – and we’re making burgers, not burger crumbles 😉

Let’s go down the list from 1 to 3 for the little ‘recipes’ behind it all. I like using the Red Gold brand for this the best as the cans are larger than most other brands (coming in at 14.5 ounces) & honestly, I just prefer the flavors a lot better than other brands I have tried.

Spicy Burgers (or Spicy Ranch Burgers)

  • 1 14.5oz can of Red Gold green chile diced tomatoes, well drained/squeezed of all liquid
  • (for the spicy ranch version, add 1 pack of dried ranch seasoning)
  • (to top, use pepperjack cheese)

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 14.5 oz can of Red Gold cilantro & lime diced tomatoes, well drained/squeezed of all liquid

The basic instructions for all the burger patties is the same.  Squeeze/drain all the juice from the tomatoes.  Mix it in with the ground beef (for the spicy ranch, also mix in 1 pack of ranch dressing seasoning mix) & form your patties as small or as big as you like.

Grill (or cook in a hot skillet) til desired done-ness.  I like to grill mine on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes on each side.

Top with cheese while it’s still on the grill to get that awesome melty effect – and then top them as desired once you remove them from the grill.
