Cauldron Cupcakes
These Cauldron Cupcakes (complete with spooky smoke) are so cool looking – you’re going to be surprised how easy they are to put together!
Welcome to Day 1 of #HalloweenTreatsWeek! I’ve teamed up with a great group of sponsors & they sent me a good bit of free goodies to make this week of recipes happened. As always, all opinions & general chit chat is all 100% me.
I am so in love with how cute these cauldron cupcakes turned out. I absolutely suck at decorating cakes & cupcakes, so anytime that I can make one look cute – you know that is has to be easy to decorate. This one is so simple and I’m just in love with them!
For these cupcakes, you can go with store-bought cake mix & premade frosting, or you can go all out & make them from scratch. The assembly of the cupcakes doesn’t take long at all, but the end product is adorable.
To make the cauldron cupcakes, you will need:
- baked cupcakes
- chocolate frosting (recipe at bottom of the post – or use store-bought or your own favorite)
- mini chocolate donuts, cut in half – making two thin donuts
- green frosting (I used store-bought vanilla frosting & dyed it green with my Adams food coloring)
- red sanding sugar (I like Wiltons)
- pretzel sticks
- cotton candy
- black licorice strings
To assemble the cupcakes:
- Lightly frost the cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
- Place a halved chocolate donut on each cupcake, & cover with frosting – leaving the center of the donut hole empty.
- Dip the bottom edge of the frosted cupcake in red sanding sugar
- Pipe green frosting into the center of the donut hole (I used a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off) letting it ‘bubble’ out for effect
- Stick a small piece of cotton candy on the green frosting for cauldron smoke
- Fit a licorice string over top for the cauldron handle, burying the ends in the cupcake
- Pop a pretzel stick inside the donut hole for the cauldron stirrer
- ALL DONE!!
I hope you will join me for the rest of the week. I will be sharing 5 more easy-peasy Halloween recipes that I think you’re gonna love!
Sponsored products used in this recipe – Dixie Crystals Sugar, Wilton sanding sugar, & Adam’s food coloring.

These cupcakes are adorable.
These cupcakes are adorable. These are some nice prizes too.
My favorite Halloween character is Michael Myers from the Halloween movie. He doesn’t say a word, but he’s still so scary!
My favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. The characters are all so unique looking and my kids love the music.
I don’t think I have a favorite Halloween character. Maybe a scarecrow. Nor do I have a favorite Halloween dessert
My favorite Halloween treat has always been the caramel apples a neighbor used to give out to the early trick-or-treaters! Miss the days when homemade treats were the favorites.
The cupcakes look adorable!
