Easy Homemade Caramel Bugles

Bugles have long since been a favorite packaged snack of mine. One of my very favorites actually. Bugles and Funions are the top of my supermarket bagged snack aisle!

Bugles are obviously pretty darn delicious on their own but they are also the star of one of my family’s favorite snacks.

This recipe for Homemade Caramel Bugles is lipsmacking delicious. I make these throughout the year but around the holidays, I make it in a large batch for gift giving purposes. Everyone who ever gets them loves them  and asks for the recipe!

What ingredients do I need to make this recipe?

  • 1 pound of butter
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 2 – 7.5oz bags of Bugles

How do I make this recipe for Homemade Caramel Bugles?

In a pot over medium heat, add the butter, sugar, salt and water. Stir together and then heat without stirring to 260 degrees using a candy thermometer.

Butter a very large bowl and add two bags of bugles.

Pour the sugar mixture over the bugles and stir everything together. Spread out on wax paper to cool.

How long do these Homemade Caramel Bugles stay fresh?

In an airtight container, these should stay good for 1 to 2 weeks.
