Creamy Gouda & Garlic Potatoes Au Gratin

I love starch.

I love cheese.

I love garlic.

And, I LOVE these potatoes.  I CRAVE these potatoes. Creamy, cheesy, garlic-y perfection.

I also love my husband, but I will so stab his hand with my fork if he tries taking a bite off of my plate.  I’m all for sharing…but that’s pushing it.

But, I will share my recipe with y’all so that you can see for yourself what I’m going on & on about.  You just have to try these.  It just wouldn’t be right if you didn’t.

Creamy Gouda & Garlic Potatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds red potatoes, washed – sliced thin (skin on)
  • 7 ounces Gouda cheese, shredded & divided
  • half a stick of butter
  • 8-10 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.  Butter a 9×13 baking dish.

Melt the butter in a small pan & toss in the minced garlic.  Saute until nicely browned & fragrant.

Layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish.  Sprinkle half of the Gouda cheese on top.  Top with the other half of the sliced potatoes.  Pour on the butter garlic mixture.

Combine the heavy cream with the salt & pepper & pour on top of the potatoes.  Sprinkle the rest of the Gouda cheese on top.

Bake for 75 minutes – serve immediately.
