Ingredients For Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce
It’s super simple. Only 2 ingredients (unless you use the herbs) if you already have your cranberry sauce on hand!
- 8 Ounce Round Brie Wheel: You’ll want to choose a good quality brie for the best flavor. It melts beautifully, creating that gooey goodness everyone loves. You can find this at your local grocery store.
- Cranberry Sauce: I love making my own homemade cranberry sauce with fresh cranberries, brown sugar, and a splash of orange juice. My sweet cranberry sauce pairs perfectly with the brie. Feel free to use your own recipe or leftover cranberry sauce.
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs: Just a few fresh rosemary sprigs will make your appetizer look fancy.
How to Make Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce
- Get the oven ready: Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare your baking dish: I normally bake my brie round in a mini pie plate but you can use a parchment paper lined baking sheet too (for easy clean up). Alternatively, you can also use a triangle of brie.
- Get the brie ready: I like to slice the very top rind off of my wheel of brie, this is a personal preference. It’s 100% edible so you can leave it on if you like.
- Top the brie: Now, grab your homemade cranberry sauce. Spoon as much or as little on top of the brie as you like. This tart cranberry sauce will melt into the cheese as it bakes.
- Bake the brie: Carefully place the brie on the prepared baking sheet. Pop it into your preheated oven and let it bake for about 6-8 minutes. Keep an eye on it; you want it warm and melty but not too gooey.
- Garnish with rosemary: Once your brie is golden brown and bubbly, take it out of the oven. If you like, sprinkle some fresh rosemary sprigs on top. This adds a lovely festive touch and a nice aroma.
- Serve it up: Let the baked brie cool for a minute before serving. Pair it with crispy baguette slices, favorite crackers, or apple slices.
Recipe Variations
- Cranberry and Maple Drizzle: Top your brie with cranberry sauce and add a drizzle of maple syrup on top. This balances the tartness of the cranberry sauce beautifully.
- Cranberry and Nut Topping: Mix chopped nuts, like pecans or walnuts, with your cranberry sauce.
- Cranberry and Thyme: Before you bake the brie, sprinkle fresh thyme leaves over the cranberry sauce in place of rosemary.
- Cranberry and Honey Glaze: Combine your cranberry sauce with a drizzle of honey before adding it to the brie. This enhances the flavors even more and adds a tiny bit of extra sweetness.
- Spicy Cranberry Sauce: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some diced jalapeños to your cranberry sauce.
- Cranberry with Orange Zest: Mix some orange zest into your cranberry sauce. This brightens up the flavor and complements the brie perfectly.
- Cranberry and Bacon Bits: For a savory twist, sprinkle some cooked and crumbled bacon on top of the cranberry sauce. I love this sweet and salty combo!
Ways to Serve Baked Brie with Cranberry Sauce
You will also need something to dip inside your brie – you can use a variety of things! In the pictures, I have pita crackers. Another favorite cracker to dip in this for me are those pretzel crackers.
Of course, there are so many more options than just crackers! I’m talking apple slices, bread, crostini, etc.
This baked brie with cranberry sauce also makes a fabulous topping for a turkey burger! Just sayin’ 🙂
