Sloppy Joe Monsters
Sloppy Joes are a family favorite & are so easy to make. With a couple of simple additions, you can transform your sloppy joes into monsters for Halloween! You can use regular sized buns or slider buns for these Perfect for a Halloween party or for dinner tonight!
My family loves sloppy joes as many families do. It’s one of those quick, crowd pleasing favorites that are as quintessential to the American cuisine as macaroni & cheese. They’re cheap, quick, & Â simple – and kids eat them up, so it’s not hard to see what makes them so popular. We eat them for dinner quite a lot actually. Sometimes I even make a pizza out of them.
I used to buy the cans of sloppy joe mix, but I never do that anymore because making them from scratch is so easy, and they taste better too. Homemade sloppy joes are essentially just ketchup, mustard, & brown sugar. When I first learned that’s all that it was, it kind of honestly blew me away. Ketchup and mustard mixed together? Really? But that’s what it is and it’s delicious.
For Halloween, I decided to spook-ify my sloppy joes up a little bit and make some Sloppy Joe Monsters.
It’s so easy to turn a sloppy joe into a monster – and they end up being such a hit! Perfect for Halloween parties or any meal really. Kids and adults just love them!
All you need to monsterize your sandwich is:
- toothpicks
- pimento stuffed olives
- sliced cheese with jagged, pointy teeth cut into the edge
Pile your sloppy joe on the bun & top with a piece of cheese that you’ve cut the edge into points. Let the cheese ‘teeth’ hang off the side a little. Top with the other half of the bun. Stick a toothpick into 2 pimento stuffed olives and insert them into the sandwich, making the monster’s eyes. Serve & enjoy!
I made full sized monster sloppy joes, but you could also use slider buns and have mini monsters.
