Sweet Potato Bread

This Southern Sweet Potato Bread is made with freshly cooked sweet potatoes, pecans, & a little pumpkin pie spice. It’s reminiscent of a pumpkin bread but so much tastier!Southern Sweet Potato Bread

When sweet potatoes go on sale, one should make some sweet potato bread! 😉

My local grocery store had sweet potatoes for just $0.27 a pound, so I decided to buy a large amount of them with such a great price. They keep for a pretty long time versus most other forms of produce, so it’s a great thing to stock up on when you can. Since they were so cheap, it was a perfect excuse to whip up a batch of my Southern Sweet Potato Bread.

Sweet Potato Bread tastes very similar to pumpkin bread, but a little tastier if you ask me. I don’t know what it is exactly about it that makes me like it more, but I do. However, if you have never had sweet potato bread before – pumpkin bread is the closest thing that I can compare it to. I guess you just need to scroll down for the recipe and make it so you know what it tastes like for yourself, huh? 😉

I love this bread warm with a little butter spread on top… talk about tasty!

Mix together the sugar and oil; beat well. Add the eggs and beat well again.
Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir flour mixture and the water into the egg mixture.

Next, stir in sweet potatoes and chopped nuts.

Pour batter into 2 greased small loaf pans.
Bake at 350 for 60 minutes.

I personally like to eat mine with a little butter & a cup of coffee. Magnificent!

Sweet Potato Bread

Ingredients

  • cups white sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • cups sifted bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • cup water
  • 1 heaping cup cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
  • ¾ cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Combine sugar and oil; beat well. Add eggs and beat. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir flour mixture and water into egg mixture. Stir in sweet potatoes and chopped nuts.
  • Pour batter into 2 greased small loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about one hour.

  1. HI.. I am trying this tomorrow..you are right there are so many ways to use the potatoes right now.I am so tired of the same old thing..Your OW dishes look devine! Don’t you love how those dishes bake bread, I sure do and won’t use anything else now that I have mine!! Thanks!!
