Double Caramel Turtle Brownies

Ring the bells & toot the horns for today’s the day that Crystal was born!Β

Yup, it’s MY BIRTHDAY! That little ‘ring the bells & toot the horns’ thing is something that my Daddy would sing to me as a little girl when it was my birthday. πŸ™‚

And since it’s my birthday, I’ve made myself my favorite brownie recipe and I decided to share it with all of you.

These are so decadent, and I absolutely love decadent chocolate desserts (with that nice fudgy chocolate).I also realllllyyyyy love caramel. Like a lot. I could probably eat a vat homemade caramel with a spoon. I mean I won’t… unless one of y’all have a vat of homemade caramel sitting around and you feel like making a dare. πŸ˜‰

ANYHOW – I might as well eat what I want today because I’m celebrating being here for another year – 38 today!

Ingredients:

  • 11oz bag caramel bits
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (or more if you like)
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Pour the caramel bits into a microwavable safe bowl. Stir in 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Heat and stir with a whisk until all caramels are melted in 45 second intervals. This may take a few times.Β
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, melted butter, and chopped pecans. Place 1/2 of the batter in prepared baking pan & spread to fit pan. I usually use my hands for this because it works better. Spray your hands with nonstick spray or use kitchen gloves to avoid stickage.
  4. Place the remaining batter into the fridge.
  5. Bake for 8 minutes.
  6. Remove brownies from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Drizzle caramel sauce over chocolate chips. Remove brownie batter from refrigerator. Make small balls with the batter with a spoon and smash flat. Place on top of the caramel sauce.
  7. Bake for an additional 20 minutes. Remove and let cool.
