Stuffing Waffles

If you have leftover stuffing from Thanksgiving, you have got to try making a leftover stuffing waffle!

It completely transforms the leftover dressing and turns it into something absolutely spectacular. It is so delicious that I can see myself making stuffing just so I can make some of these waffles.

Speaking of stuffing, I’ve been told that my sausage stuffing makes the best stuffing for a Thanksgiving meal, in case you need some inspiration.

Ever year my family waits in anticipation for my leftover Thanksgiving stuffing waffles. It’s a tradition in our house.

Most often we dunk them into gravy from the turkey, but sometimes I’ll opt for using leftover cranberry sauce instead. I just love repurposing leftover Thanksgiving foods!

What Stuffing Waffles Taste Like

Eating stuffing waffles is like tasting a condensed version of Thanksgiving in every bite. The exterior has a slight crunch, much like the crusty edges of baked stuffing, while the inside remains moist and flavorful.

Why You’ll Love Making Stuffing Waffles

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the leftovers. I like to get creative with repurposing them so we don’t get bored eating Thanksgiving dinner three days in a row. While fresh stuffing is great on Thanksgiving, you don’t really want to eat it the same way for leftovers!

  • Transforms Leftovers into a New Meal: Making stuffing waffles is a delicious way to repurpose your Thanksgiving leftovers. Whether you have a basic stuffing or one filled with large pieces of sausage and vegetables, the waffle maker turns these leftovers into golden brown savory waffles that will surely get gobbled up!
  • Easy and Quick: These leftover stuffing waffles are super easy to make! Simply mix your leftover stuffing with an egg and a bit of chicken stock or turkey broth to reach the right consistency, then cook in a hot waffle iron.
  • Versatile Toppings: Stuffing waffles can be topped with a variety of leftovers. Whether you prefer a drizzle of leftover gravy, a bit of cranberry sauce, or even a fried egg, there are numerous ways to enjoy these savory waffles.
  • Crispy Edges with Moist Interior: The waffle iron cooks the stuffing and ensures every nook and cranny becomes crispy while the interior stays moist and delicious.

Ingredients for Stuffing Waffles

It couldn’t be easier to make these waffles since it takes only three ingredients:

  • Leftover dressing or stuffing (what do you call it?) – you can use homemade stuffing or a store-bought stuffing mix.
  • Chicken or turkey broth
  • An egg

This recipe makes about 2 waffles but feel free to double or triple it as needed. So pull out your waffle maker and give this recipe a try!

How to Make Stuffing Waffles

  • Start by getting your waffle iron hot and ready for your batter.
  • Next, in a medium bowl combine the leftover dressing or stuffing with and egg. Stir to combine.
  • Then pour in the broth/stock. Mix it all together and while you are mixing, mash the dressing up to get a consistent texture. I start off with 1/4 cup and then add more as needed. I usually end up adding about 1/2 cup to thin it down enough to make a ‘waffle batter’.
  • Scoop the waffle mixture into your preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown.
  • Top with leftover gravy, if desired, or make your own using chicken or turkey broth. Store-bought turkey gravy can also be used in a pinch.

Ways to Enjoy Stuffing Waffles

  • Classic Breakfast Plate: Place leftover waffles on a plate and serve with maple syrup. This is a simple and delicious way to enjoy them, similar to regular waffles. The maple syrup adds a sweet touch to the savory flavors.
  • Turkey and Waffles: Top your waffles with slices of leftover turkey and a drizzle of leftover gravy.
  • Waffle Sandwich: Create a sandwich using two waffles as the bread. Fill with leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Heat until the cheese melts for the perfect Thanksgiving sandwich!
  • Waffle Bites: Cut leftover stuffing waffles into small pieces and serve with dipping sauces, such as gravy or cranberry sauce.
  • Soup Side: Serve a warm, crispy leftover stuffing waffle alongside your favorite soup or stew.
  • Cheesy Waffles: Sprinkle grated cheddar or parmesan cheese on top of the waffle before closing the waffle maker. The cheese will melt and create a crispy, cheesy crust on the waffles.

Storing Stuffing Waffles

Store leftover waffles in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat using your waffle maker, toaster oven, or toaster.
