Bat Cheese Ball
This quick and easy Bat Cheese Ball is a Halloween traditon for my family. It’s so cute but also delicous!
Several years ago, my friend Becky shared her recipe for her easy 2 Ingredient Cheese Ball here on the blog. Last year, I used her recipe as a base & made a post of 13 different ways to jazz it up & create more flavors with the prep being just as simple.
Today, I’m using Becky’s cheese ball again & giving it a Halloween spin with this Bat Cheese Ball.
Feeling a little batty (or cheesy?) – well read on to see how to make it.
You only need 4 ingredients to make this Halloween appetizer. (Printable recipe is at the bottom of this post)
- 2 8oz blocks of cream cheese
- 2 packets of Italian dressing mix
- blue corn tortilla chips
- pimento stuffed green olives
In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese and Italian dressing mix. I use latex free disposable kitchen gloves & just use my hands for this part, but you can use a spatula too. Form it into a ball. I like for mine to sit in the fridge for a couple hours after this point for the flavors to meld, but it’s not absolutely necessary. It just tastes better 🙂
Next, it’s time to bat-ify the cheeseball!
Crush up some of the blue tortilla chips – about 1/2 cup’s worth. I just gave mine a quick spin in the food processor but you can easily crush them with your hands, or in a ziplock bag with a rolling pin to crush them. Roll the cheeseball in the crushed blue corn chips, covering all sides. Using 2 full chips, insert them on either side of the ball for the bat’s wings. I like to find two tortilla chips in the bag that are slightly curled because they look a little more ‘wingy’ to me.
For the eyes, insert two pimento stuffed green olives in the front of the cheeseball.
And that’s it – you have a Bat Cheese Ball! It would be perfect for a Halloween party, don’t ya think?
