Charcuterie Christmas Tree Ingredients
- Cubed Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese: These are mild, favorite cheeses that almost everyone enjoys.
- Cubed Pepper Jack Cheese: Pepper jack cheeses bring flavor and color without being too spicy.
- Cherry Tomatoes: Bright, juicy cherry tomatoes (or grape tomatoes) add color and a pop of freshness.
- Hard Salami Slices: The sturdy slices hold their shape well and are perfect for layering.
- Large Pepperoni Slices: Pepperoni is always a popular choice at parties.
- Marinated Olives: They bring a salty bite and add shine to the Christmas tree.
- Fresh Rosemary: Sprigs of rosemary help create the full shape of a christmas tree and smell amazing, too.
- Cheese (for the Star): Let it sit at room temperature so it’s easy to cut into a star shape for the top of the tree.

How to Make a Charcuterie Christmas Tree
Prep the Cone: Start with a Styrofoam cone and cover the cone with toothpicks. Use plenty to hold everything in place. Begin at the bottom of the tree and work your way up so it stays sturdy and full.

Add the Cheese First: Push your cheese cubes onto the toothpicks. Space them out evenly. This becomes the base of your Christmas tree shape and helps give the tree its structure.

Decorate with Tomatoes: Add the cherry tomatoes next. Tuck them between the cheese cubes. Think of it like hanging ornaments on a small tree. Keep things balanced as you go.

Fill in with Olives and More Cheese: Add your marinated olives and any extra cheese cubes you still have left. Keep rotating the cone as you work so all sides look good and even.

Add the Meats: Fold the salami and pepperonis in half, then roll them up. Slide them onto the toothpicks to fill in any bare spots. A mix of charcuterie meats also work great here.

Tuck in the Rosemary: Slide in sprigs of rosemary all over the tree to give it a fresh, evergreen look. It makes it look festive and smells amazing too!

Make the Cheese Star: Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star from your block of cheese. Place it gently on the top of the tree.

Recipe Tips
- Wrap the cone tightly so no foam shows through the food.
- Pat the olives and tomatoes dry before adding them so they don’t slip off.
- Use shorter toothpicks near the top so the pieces don’t stick out too far.
- Build the tree on the serving board so you don’t have to move it later.
- Keep extra ingredients nearby to quickly fill in gaps right before serving or to replenish the tree as it is being eaten.
Recipe Variations
- Extra Color: Add green grapes, red grapes, fresh cranberries, pomegranate seeds, sweet apples, dried fruits, mozzarella balls or red peppers.
- Meat Lovers: Add more meats like Prosciutto, Soppressata, or Capicola.
- Vegetarian Style: Skip the meats and load it up with a variety of cheeses, veggies and olives instead.
- Low-Carb Option: Focus on cheeses, meats, olives, and peppers instead of adding fruit.

Ways to Serve a Charcuterie Christmas Tree
- Place it in the center of the table as a festive centerpiece for holiday gatherings.
- Pair it with crackers and pretzel sticks on a cheese tray for casual snacking.
- Serve it as part of a full Christmas cheese board with fruit and nuts around the base.
- Put it out during Christmas Eve for easy grazing while everyone visits.
How to Store Leftovers
If you have leftovers, gently remove the food from the cone and place everything in airtight containers. Wrap cheeses and meats separately in plastic wrap so they stay fresh.
Store them in the fridge and enjoy within two to three days. The fresh rosemary can be wrapped in a damp paper towel and placed in a bag to keep it from drying out.
