Frozen Aloe Vera Sunburn Soothers

Got sunburn? Want relief? Don’t look any further than these super easy frozen Aloe Vera Sunburn Soothers. They’re instant relief! 

So, I’m going to admit something.

I am super vain about my skin. Like super duper vain.

I don’t go in the sun. I avoid it like I’m a vampire. Not a sparkly one – just a regular one. But I’m not a vampire (although the whiteness of my skin might argue with that statement just a bit). I’m just really vain about my skin. I don’t ever get burnt because I don’t ever tan. When we go to the beach, I make sure that tents are allowed at that beach so my shockingly white behind can hide from the sun underneath it. Skin cancer runs in my family, so that’s one reason that I’m super vain about keeping my skin super pale… but the other one is that I don’t want to age any quicker than my time. I have friends who’ve tanned their whole life and have brown spots all over their face and/or body  – or even worse, a couple of friends (no names are being named for obvious reasons!)… their skin actually resembles leather. Me? I prefer to keep the leather to my pocketbooks & want no comparison of that material to my skin.

Wanna compare me to something? Compare me to Snow White. I’m the fairest of them all. As in the palest. 😉

Well, if I’m so afraid of the sun – then why on earth am I sharing a recipe for something that helps sunburns? Because the rest of my family isn’t afraid of the sun. You don’t want to hear my sunscreen sermons (I literally preach it to my family, y’all) – but sometimes, even though I preach it hard – it gets missed…or areas of the skin go uncovered. We have a pool in our backyard, so in the summertime – you can easily find my youngins out there on any given day. Me? Honey, didn’t we cover that I’m like a vampire? My ghost like nature is only found indulging in the pool after 6pm, baby. Vain, I tell ya – vain.

I keep frozen aloe vera cubes in a freezer bag in my freezer just in case the kids forget to put it on – or most likely with my family, don’t put it on sufficiently – and burns end up happening. I’m well prepared – just in case.

And even though I don’t feel the relief since I’m all anti-sun – my kids do. When they do get burned, and we apply these frozen aloe cubes to it – you hear sounds of ‘ahhhhhh’ – you know, the sound of relief.

My kids categorize these under the file of ‘amazing’. Aloe Vera is amazing all on it’s own – but you combine it’s healing power with the coolness of an ice cube…. and well, you get perfection.

Sunburn Relief Protection, that is. And here’s how it’s done.

Using an ice tray – disperse the aloe vera evenly between the ice compartments. I’m using a star tray in this one because… hello! It’s almost the 4th of July so it seems adequate!

Next step isn’t too complicated. Pop your aloe vera trays in the freezer, and freeze overnight or until solid. I think you can do this step ok without any assistance. 😉

Once they’re frozen – run a little hot water on the underside of the trays to loosen them up so you can pop them out easily & they don’t stick.

Place the aloe vera cubes (or stars) in a freezer bag & keep in the freezer for when you need them.

If someone (or you) gets a little too much sun – remove one from the freezer bag & rub over the affected area for immediate (and I mean immediate) relief. Ahhhhhhh.

These things are little cubes of awesomeness – and totally cool, for obvious reasons. 😉
